Your hosts, Vicki and Mike Richards, welcome all guests to their home and will endeavour to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. If you have any specific questions or requirements please do not hesitate to ask.
It is recommended that you use private transport, as local public transport facilities are fairly limited.
Our nearest train stations are Barnham (2 miles) and Arundel (3.5 miles) and there are taxi services available at both stations (Barnham Station Taxis Tel. 01243 551853). There are buses from Arundel and Chichester, Compass Travel route 85, but these are not usually more than 2 hourly and not at all on Sundays or Bank Holidays (www.compass-travel.co.uk).
Woodacre has a comprehensive website (www.woodacre.co.uk) which explains the layout of the rooms and bathrooms. It is important to note that not all our rooms are en-suite.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

We have a large private drive which is gravelled, with ample space for parking. The surface is flat. There is a paved area to the front of the house leading to an iron front gate on a catch which leads through to the Front Door. This area is flat with no steps.
Main Entrance and Reception Lobby
The Front Door is 80cm wide. You enter onto a quarry tiled floor and the width of the Lobby is 2.35m and the length is 5.25m. A chair is provided. There is ample lighting with a night lamp that remains on until 1am.
Inner Hall and Dining Areas
From the reception lobby there are 2 steps (11cm and 7cm high respectively) into an Inner Hall which is also quarry tiled. There is an occasional rug. This hall measures 1.2m wide at the widest and 10.6m long.
There is a shower room and WC at the end of the hall with a door width of 65cm. Also leading off the hall are 2 rooms where breakfast is served. One of these is the Conservatory with glass doors opening to a total width of 100cm. The door to the Dining Room is 78cm wide. There are no steps.
Conservatory (where the majority of breakfasts are served)
There is a Pine Dining Table with seating for 6 to 8 people. The under space of the table measures 62cm. The chairs are 45cm high. The floor is again quarry tiled. There are doors leading to the garden with a total width of 130cm. There is a threshold of 7cm, and 2 steps with a drop of 12cm and 10cm leading onto a patio. The patio is paved but is old and uneven.
There is a Dining Table that seats 6 with an under space of 63cm. The chairs are 46cm high. The chairs are made of very heavy wood, but help can be provided with re-arrangement if necessary.
Access to the bedroom area is from the end of the Inner Hall, just past the Conservatory. There are 2 doors to go through which both measure 75cm. The area is carpeted. This Inner Lobby measures 3m x 1.6m. There is a Fire Escape with a ramp, leading to the front of the house. The width of the fire escape door is 68cm and it has a small threshold of 6cm. There is a shared bathroom (known as the Blue Bathroom) off the Inner Lobby with a door width of 62cm.
Ground Floor Bedrooms
Double En-suite Room
This room is accessible both internally and also through it’s own private entrance from the driveway. The internal door measures 75cm in width. The external door is 78cm wide which leads into a small lobby with another door into the bedroom which is 69cm wide. There is a small step from the outside of 8cm. The area is fully carpeted.
This room has a 5 foot double bed (not easily moved). The height is 55cm including the mattress. There are 2 chairs and a small table. There is a chest of drawers and a bedside table plus individually controlled bedside lighting. There is also a colour TV and DVD player plus tea and coffee making facilities.
En-suite Bathroom (not suitable for wheelchairs)
The bathroom door is only 54cm wide and 172cm in height. The floor is linoleum. There is a shower cubicle with a 24cm step and the shower measures 72 x 75cm. There is a double sink unit which is 83cm high and the WC is 38cm high. There is a built in wardrobe with hangers provided and a full length wall mirror. There is also a vanity unit and stool.
Family Room (internal access not possible for wheelchairs)
Door width is 51cm. The room measurers 5.65m x 3.00m. There are patio doors leading to the garden which have a total opening width of 90cm. The threshold measures 8cm and there is one steep step of 20cm. The Family Room has one double bed (4foot 6 inches wide) and 2 single beds (3 foot wide). The height of the beds including mattresses are 56cm. There are 2 chests of drawers and 2 bedside tables each with individual lamps. There are also wall lights and a central light. The floor is carpeted. There is a small wall hung TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
Please note that even though it would be possible for a wheel chair to enter this room through the patio doors, access would not be possible to the shared bathrooms through the bedroom door as it is only 51cm wide.
First Floor Bedrooms
There is quite a steep set of stairs leading to the 2 Twin Rooms on the first floor. The stairs are 77cm wide and comprise of 12 steps each measuring 20 x 20cm in height and width. The staircase is carpeted. There is a handrail on the left hand side going up. The area is well lit with central hanging lights on both levels.
Twin Room (known as the Green Room)
The room is of good size being 4m x 3.1m and is at the back of the house facing the garden. The floor is carpeted. The door width is 66cm, but as the door is built into the eaves it is only 124cm high on one side and 185cm on the other. There is a pedestal wash hand basin that is 78cm high. There is a TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
Twin Room (known as Yellow Room)
This room measures 4m x 4.1m. The door is the same size as the other Twin Room. The floor is carpeted. The pedestal sink is 76 cm high. There is a TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
As mentioned before this bathroom is on the ground floor and is shared by guests in the Twin Rooms and Family Room. The bath is 49cm high with a hand shower. There is a pedestal wash basin which is 66cm high and the WC is 42cm high. The floor has a linoleum covering.
The shower room is accessible from the Inner Hall (opposite Conservatory). The door way is 65cm wide. There is a corner shower measuring 72cm from front to back with a concertina type door opening to a maximum width of 41cm. The WC height is 42cm and the wall hung basin is 81cm high. This bathroom is also shared by guests in the Twin Rooms and Family Room. The floor has a linoleum covering.
All the bedrooms are centrally heated with individual thermostatic radiator valves. The windows are all double glazed in the bedrooms, shower rooms and bathroom and have magnetic locking devices. There are smoke detectors in all the guests bedrooms and public areas plus emergency lighting and a fully operational Fire Alarm system. All the bedroom doors are self-closing but do not lock without a key. Keys are provided to the guests for access to the house at all times. We have free Wifi for guests bringing their own laptops.
Unless by prior arrangement we prefer guests to check in between 5pm and 7pm and depart by 10.30am.
